Peter Mwaura Waithira’s Bio

My name is Peter Mwaura Waithira from a family of six. I was born in Ngecha village, Limuru division central of Kenya on 1st June 1988. I joined nursery school in the year 1994 – 1995 where I then joined New Ngecha primary school in the year 1996 – 2003. Thereafter I joined Gichuru High school in the year 2004 – 2007.

From nursery school after my teacher showed me how to handle a pencil. I was able to scribble and doodling. Therefore my interest in art started growing slowly by slowly. Yes in primary school after knowing how to handle my pencil properly I was able to draw simple things from imagination and observation. Other than drawing I was able to make things of mosaic and collage (A hut fibre and glass, necklaces of beans and maize)

In primary school, a branch of Plan International developed a group which was called Msingi Bora. Meaning Skill and art development, where I was the first person to be chosen. Through this branch I won several prizes like drawing books, painting colours and

manila papers. This helped me in improving my art work

In secondary school, that was the time I was extremely in drawing. I was able to draw small pictures and took them to galleries which were near my village. (Ngecha Artist Association centre, Banana Art Hill Studio)

Having inspired by several artists, I was able to attend several workshop which includes
