Judy Wanjiru’s Bio

I was born in 1990 in Ngecha village Limuru division, Kiambu District, central province. In 1996 I joined Ngecha primary school whereby in 2004 I achieved my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (K.C.P.E).In 2005 I joined Secondary School and completed in 2008 having a Kenya certificate of Secondary Education.

My art begins when I heard from my parents that Ngecha Artist Association is to offer workshop for children above ten to eighteen years.  I decided to join the workshop and I was given a chance to work with a brush using Acrylic paints for the first time.

From time to time I would go for workshops but my dream of being a full artist came to a reality when I met Ken Artifact in 2003. I was inspired by his work and I longed to work with the artist. Since then I have been venturing in the field of art—all guided by Ken.

I held a workshop for one month with African art family and later an exhibition at Ngecha YMCA center in 2005.Today I work in my studio at home and take my work to the gallery. My painting goes from abstract, realistic, imagination and wildlife.

OBJECTIVE:

Challenge the youths to be creative in art instead of wasting time.
